Under this chapter, we shall examine the zone from Camilimanı Point on the northern part of Kuşadası to the Point Tekağac on the northwest of Gulf Güllük. Kuşadası is the only town in the region.

Steep mountains rise from Kuşadası and ascends towards Dilek Boğazı (Strait) and reaches over 1000 meter, it continuous towards east down to Valley of Melander River. The flat area from the coast to Lake Bafa, 15 km inland, was known in anchient times as Latmos Bay, and its shoreline was occupied by the cities in the Ionian confederacy (Miletos, Herakleia and Prienne).

There are two islands – Sisam and the smaller one; Gaidaros Islands.

Dilek Strait is 1 mile wide and 4 miles long on from east to west. There is an Island in the middle – Bayrak Adası. The sea breeze in the strait blows stronger than its usual rate and can make the passage uncomfortable for sailors cruising north. When combined with strong gusts it can create eddies on the shores of Akra Prason. Extreme care is required. Effect of the prevailing wind dies off on approaching southward. There are no adequate anchorages along the shores from Dilek Strait to Point Tekağaç on the south.
