Paşalimanı Island is the second largest island in the region after Marmara Island. The most suitable anchorage on the island is Paşalimanı Bay, located off Paşalimanı Village. The bay offers excellent all-round protection, particularly from northerly winds.

Approach and Navigation:
Careful navigation is required when approaching the bay. There are two recommended approaches to this northwestern anchorage:

Northern Approach (Recommended): Enter from the north, keeping Koyun Island to starboard. This approach is clearer with no obstructions in the fairway, providing the safest route.

Western Approach: Approach from the west, leaving Koyun Island to port. Pay close attention to the shallow water buoys marking the shoals. Caution: There is a bank in the middle of the bay. Therefore, it is advisable to double-check your navigation information before entering.

Historical Significance:
This well-protected bay served as a winter anchorage for the Ottoman Navy for many years. The cemetery in Paşalimanı Village contains graves of Ottoman pashas from that era.

Alternative Anchorages:

Harmanlı Village (40°28.48' N – 27°36.15' E):
Located on the southern side of the bay, Harmanlı Village offers better protection from southerly winds. The bottom is predominantly sand, providing good holding ground. In contrast, the bottom off Paşalimanı Bay is a mixture of gravel and weed.

Off Balıklı Pier (40°27.38' N - 27°37.32' E):
Provides the best shelter from northerly winds.

Berthing Facilities:
A concrete pier is available off Paşalimanı Village. Operated by the Village Authority (Tel: 0533-430 44 29), the pier accommodates up to 12 vessels. Water and electricity connections are provided. Berthing fees apply.

Village Amenities:
The village has a small market, medical clinic, and gendarme station. A road connects the village to Balıklı Pier, which serves as the main supply point for Paşalimanı Island. Regular ferry services to surrounding islands operate from Balıklı Pier.
