Under this heading; we will cover the waters between Akburun in the west and Teke Burnu, 20 miles southeast of it.
We will introduce the sheltered harbors and bays suitable for mooring in this coastal section.
Between Akburun and Mersin Gulf, there are very beautiful beaches and summer resorts. In this section, when weather conditions are favorable, one can anchor for daily stopovers. These are waters where the sea and sand are magnificent.
Alaçatı Gulf is a world-famous windsurfing area. Many international competitions take place here. Generally, these are shallow areas.
In the region, winds blow from land in a northerly direction. The wind picks up at noon and continues until sunset.
Alaçatı Gulf and its vicinity is the area where the wind is strongest. It may blow continuously for days. It is the windiest place on the Turkish coast in terms of number of days.
In the region, there is a marina and very beautiful sheltered bays with no concerns for staying.
In the region, there are road connections from every point. Technical equipment and technical workshops are available in Alaçatı. Health, security, transportation, and shopping facilities are adequate.
AREAS REQUIRING ATTENTION:
1) 2 rocks with 1.80 m of water over them in the middle of the wide bay east of Akburun.
2) Shoals within Alaçatı Gulf.
3) Underwater and above-water rocks extending 200 meters south from the southwest end of Çiğdem Island.
4) Shoal extending 60 meters south of the small island in front of the cape emerging between Değirmen Burnu and Zeytineli Harbor.
