I followed the CFM-BAYK Winter Trophy 6th Leg races on April 30th, Day 1, aboard Zagun, which is maintaining its leadership in the IRC B-1 Group.

Unlike the Offshore route that IRC A boats would race, IRC B and Support groups held a buoy race off Bodrum.

On a day when the wind was blowing from 130-145 degrees at 9-18 knots, IRC B and Support groups completed 2 races on a 6 nautical mile course as the crow flies.

The Trophy's starting tradition changed today. IRC B and Support classes used to start before IRC A boats; today the starting order was changed.

Following IRC A 3 and 4, IRC A 1 and 2, and finally IRC A 0 groups completed their starts.

A course of approximately 23 nautical miles as the crow flies, departing from Bodrum, leaving Yıldız Island and Orak Island to port, finishing off Bodrum.

Following the start of IRC A boats, IRC B and support classes were given a mass start for the buoy race. The wind was blowing from 145 degrees at 12-15 knots at the start.

While following the race from within the fleet aboard the yacht Zagun, I had the opportunity to closely observe and capture footage of the B group boats.

At the end of the first race, a postponement was announced 2 minutes before the start of the second race. The race committee adapted to the wind direction change and repositioned the buoys.

Zagun Fodepar, on which I was aboard, had a clean start and began racing with a fresh approach.

The fleet created beautiful scenes alongside the young Optimist sailors who were practicing their training next to the race course.

The Race Committee conducted measurements on the leading boats after the race. They checked whether there were any differences between the declared equipment and the equipment being used.
