The preparations for the 30th Marmaris International Race Week, organized annually by MIYC and taking place this year, have been completed and registrations are now closed.

On Sunday, October 27th, race documents will be distributed and the Skipper's briefing will take place.

In the evening, the Opening Cocktail will be held at the event area within Netsel Marina.

On Monday, October 28th, with the starting signal, the boats will kick off a colorful and exciting week on the racecourse.

123 BOATS REGISTERED

Preparations for this week, which has received registrations from 123 boats this year, have been ongoing by MIYC officials for nearly a year.

Due to it being the 30th anniversary, we have witnessed an even more meticulous preparation period.

We will share with you what we learn about the race and the programs through interviews we'll conduct with both the organizers and participants from time to time.

HARİKA ÖZCAMGÖZ

(MIYC Secretary)

"We have closed registrations and it has been revealed that 123 boats will be on the racecourse during race week.

Last year this number was 114.

Gradually, the numbers have started to increase again.p>

THE COURSE SAW 179 BOATS AT ITS PEAK

We reached our peak in 2013 with 179 boat participations. The declining numbers due to our geographical conditions are climbing back up again.

In our 30th year races, 8 races are planned over 5 days.

PLENTY OF TROPHIES

Additionally, this year each race will have its own separate trophy.

Teams from 12 different countries have registered.

Out of 123 teams, we see Russian sailors once again leading participation with 83 teams.

Ukraine, America, Italy, Croatia, Bulgaria, England, Netherlands, Greece, Germany, Belarus teams are the first ones that come to mind.

SKIPPER WHO DOESN'T PLACE...

The Russians have very ambitious teams.

Some Russian teams' instructors won't accept the participation fee if they don't place in the rankings.

They are that ambitious and determined.

The club has worked hard to ensure the evenings are colorful and lively following the daytime races.

DAYTIME IS GOOD, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE NIGHTS?

For this reason, evening activities for the 30th year have been planned even more carefully.

It was desired to be more colorful compared to previous years.

On Sunday evening, the CUBAN CRISTAL group will take the stage. They will be accompanied by an 8-person dance group.

On Monday evening at the Netsel Marina night, the DIAMOND 6 group will perform.

On Tuesday night, a DJ PERFORMANCE will take place.

At the same time, music video clips of the broadcasted songs will be shown on the LED screen.

On Wednesday evening at the Setur Marinalar night, the SINGLE LADIES group will be on stage with a repertoire consisting of Turkish and international songs.

On Thursday, there will be no evening event due to the planned Geographical Route race.

On Friday night, a long and lively Prize Ceremony awaits us.

We hope to experience a surge in participation at the evening events as well."

The gradually increasing participation and the further enhancement of evening events signal that the week will be eventful.

While the nights are this colorful, what will the weather be like on the actual race days, to what extent will Poseidon permit the racing, how will so many teams compete with what kind of arrangement?

We also asked our referees about that

"Weather forecasts have misled us quite a bit this year.

The week appears to include days with light wind conditions.

DECEIVE US POSEIDON

This time we hope it deceives us, and blows strong.

We have completed our preparations in a way to conduct all races.

Of course, we won't forget that we are ultimately subject to natural conditions.

The rainy days that were forecasted earlier have also been pushed to later dates.

2 RACE COMMITTEES

We have 2 race committees this year as well.

In total, 20 people will serve for races to be held on 2 separate courses.

One course will organize races inside Marmaris Bay, while the other will be outside the bay.

There are no changes to our courses.

They are already courses with many alternatives.

In the Long Geographical race we have 3 alternatives;

Dropping a mark at Kızıl Ada, Baba Ada or Ekincik.

We will decide according to the wind conditions that day."p>

The referees are ready, now what about the media side. We asked this to Board Member Halit KESGİN, who has been managing the club's press relations in a healthy manner for years.

After all, how will the press aspect of such a major organization function.

HALİT KESGİN

(MIYC Board Member)

"This year our races will be followed by a large press group.

As a club, we have made all our preparations so that they can follow and broadcast our races comfortably.

It will be possible to capture footage both from boats and from tenders.

Our main vessel for the press is a large catamaran.

It is very suitable for both surface-level and aerial filming with drones.

The organizations that will follow our race directly on the course include; Anadolu Agency, TRT, Naviga Magazine, Motor Boat Magazine, Yacht Turkey Magazine, Coast Guide TR

and local press.

We hope it will be a week where all races take place in a healthy manner."

We will also share the developments with you from our social media accounts (instagram and facebook - coastguidetr) and as news here with rich visuals.
