It is a fjord that curves 1.5 miles into the shore north of Dişlice Island. A natural wonder surrounded by pine trees.
When approaching the bay, it is an area where attention must be paid to some dangerous shoals. When approaching from the east, while turning into Bencik Bay, the debris of the cape on our starboard extends 75 meters into the sea. 195° southwest of this cape, at a distance of 400 meters, there is a rock with 1.5 meters of water over it. A South Cardinal buoy is located on this shoal. Despite this, many vessels run aground on this shoal, which is offshore from the coasts, every year as a result of carelessness.
Again, there is a rock 10 meters north of Dişlice Island. Generally, since the capes of Hisarönü Gulf extend into the sea with large and small, above-water and underwater debris, it is advisable to keep distance from the shore when passing through these areas.
Bencik Bay is a long, narrow, very sheltered bay. There are many bays and anchorages on its western and eastern shores.
The west side has many anchorage spots of various sizes all the way to the end of the bay. Here, anchoring in 8-15 meters (giving long scope) and taking stern lines from the shore is practiced. There may be underwater rocks near the capes. It is advisable to make this check in the somewhat murky water before starting the mooring maneuver. The vessels are secure with dense pine forests behind them and the magnificent view of Bencik Bay in front of them. The bay is closed to all weather conditions and sheltered.
In the widest indentation of the eastern shore, there are old training facilities of a state institution. This area is the most suitable location for anchoring offshore. Outside the beach safety buoys of the facility, anchoring is done in 16-10 meters. The anchor holds. This location is connected to the Datça-Marmaris road passing north of the bay. At the same time, a taxi can be called from a large holiday village near this area.
The northern part of Bencik Bay is shallow and marshy. On the western side of this area, there is a pier. The pier and its surroundings are the beach areas and facilities of a nearby summer resort complex. There is a market at the complex, which can be reached via a walking path (700 meters). In the adjacent cove, the boats of the summer resort residents are moored.
To the north of the bay lies the Datça-Marmaris highway, and immediately behind it is Gökova Balıkaşıran bay. The winds coming from Balıkaşıran relieve and cool Bencik Bay. During harsh weather, the sound of waves from Gökova Gulf can be heard here.
There are many bees in the bay. It is advisable to schedule meal times accordingly.
If you come to this region, this is an excellent bay (fjord) that must absolutely be seen, experienced, and visited.
