Gökçeada - Kaleköy

Kaleköy Shelter is located on the west of Kaleköy Point in northern Gökçeada. It provides all-round shelter and is primarily used by fishing boats, with limited berthing space available for visiting yachts.

Special care is required during entry and exit due to shallow rocks on the southern side of the harbor entrance. The safest approach is to keep close to the main breakwater. This is particularly important in northerly winds, when entry and exit can be hazardous for those unfamiliar with the harbor.

Depths within the shelter range from 2 to 7 meters. Boats typically anchor and go stern-to the breakwater.

The shelter is administered by the local fishing cooperative (Contact: +90 538-270 22 30). Water and electricity connections are available. Fuel can be delivered by tanker truck. Toilets and showers are provided within the facility.

Restaurants and markets are available around the harbor. A diving center organizes diving tours in the area.

Kaleköy hosts the Istanbul University Faculty of Aquatic Products Gökçeada Marine Research Center.

A historic church from the Genoese period stands on the waterfront.

Regular municipal bus service connects Kaleköy to Gökçeada town center and surrounding villages.

The island center offers comprehensive facilities for provisioning, healthcare, and transportation needs.

Gökçeada is Turkey's largest island. A private airline operates regular flights to the island.

The island offers numerous tourist attractions, with various villages along the coast and in the hills worth exploring.

A local market is held every Sunday.
