Bozcaada Castle was originally constructed during the Genoese period. The fortress was rebuilt during the reign of Sultan Mehmet II (Mehmet the Conqueror), taking its present magnificent form. The Ottoman Navy utilized this strategic castle as a vital supply base throughout history. The castle underwent major renovation in the 19th century.

The fortress consists of two main sections, separated from the island by a water moat. The inner section, surrounded by fortified walls, contains water cisterns, an arsenal, a clinic, a mosque, dormitories, workshops, and a headquarters.

Today, visitors can explore the ethnographic exhibition and open-air museum within the castle walls, offering an immersive journey through maritime history.
