Antiphellos was a small settlement until the 4th century B.C., when it became an important port city during the Roman period and rapidly developed. The theatre, dating from the Hellenistic period, is one of the most remarkable structures of the ancient city, featuring an extraordinary view overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

During the Roman era, Antiphellos became a significant trading center, serving as the main export hub for wood and sponges. The city's monumental tomb, exhibiting distinctive Doric architectural characteristics, is located on the northwest side of the hill, below the theatre, nestled among ancient olive trees.

Another remarkable sarcophagus, carved from a single block of stone and dating from the 4th century B.C., is particularly noteworthy. The rock-carved tombs on the western hillside of Kaş represent outstanding examples of Lycian necropolis architecture and are well worth visiting.
