Yalıkavak peninsula, declared as a breeding and sheltering area for Mediterranean Monk Seals, is a harbor extending 2 miles east from Göçük Point located on the southwest and Çoban Point located 1 mile to the south
The harbor faces west, surrounded by steep mountains. It is exposed to the meltemi and receives swell.
In the northern section called Küdür, there are 3 sheltered coves. These coves are protected from the meltemi. Starting from Göçük Point, Ötüsarmı Cove, Piresan Cove and Bahçe Cove are located respectively.
The bottoms of these coves are weedy, it is advisable to set the anchor well. In windy weather, squalls occasionally descend from the mountains.
If you wish to go to Yalıkavak town instead of these coves, there is Karataş Shoal that we need to be careful of when approaching. The shoal extends 650 meters offshore from the land in the middle of the harbor when approaching the town. The western end of Port Bodrum Yalıkavak Marina is close to this shoal.
There are 2 places to berth inside Yalıkavak. The most important of these is Yalıkavak Marina. You can access detailed information about this marina from the relevant page.
The other place to berth is Yalıkavak Fishing Shelter, its quay and "T" pier.
Except for times when weather is suitable, the quay and "T" pier are not suitable for berthing. It is exposed to the meltemi, deep, and receives waves and swell.
The fishing shelter is also operated by the fisheries cooperative (0555-204 02 67). It is generally impossible to find space in the shelter. Vessels can take on supplies, there is a sewage discharge unit.
Fresh fish is sold in the shelter. Electricity and water are available. In terms of technical supplies, there are hardware stores, however, every kind of technical supply and service is available at Yalıkavak Marina located within Yalıkavak. There is also a fuel station at the marina. Vessels wishing to provision can come alongside the fuel station's dock, take on fuel, and discharge their sewage.
It is the coolest town of the Bodrum Peninsula. The natural air conditioning that works with the "sweet breeze" coming from the seas makes Yalıkavak not require any other air conditioning.
In the town, there is a Health Center, Coast Guard station, Gendarmerie Station, health center, customs, laundromats, bank branches and ATMs, cargo companies.
Yalıkavak is 19 km from Bodrum and 50 km from Bodrum Milas Airport. It is connected to other settlements on the peninsula, including Bodrum, with regular minibus services. Taxis are available.
There are markets where you can do all kinds of shopping, beautiful restaurants, hotels, guesthouses and cafes.
