It is a cove hidden among high cliffs, 1.2 miles northeast of Çatal Islands. The cove, which has only a 135-meter entrance, starts to become visible only from 2 miles away.
Generally, great care must be taken at the anchorage entrance. In front of the western point, there is a rock extending to 10 meters and its debris. At this dangerous entrance, an 11th century Byzantine Shipwreck has been found. As a result of excavations, archaeological artifacts are exhibited at the Bodrum Underwater Archaeology Museum as the "Glass Wreck".
When entering the cove at a depth of 40 meters, the depths drop to 30. Between steep, high and rocky hills, Serçe Harbor is a cove that resembles a canyon.
The cove consists of two parts, one extending north and the other south.
To its north is called Serçe Harbor, to its south Akça Harbor. Local sailors shelter in the northern cove. This part drops to 10 meters in the middle and becomes shallow, connecting to land with a narrow, flat area.
The bottom holds anchor. By dropping anchor, stern lines can be taken from both slopes. At the end of the wooden pier in the shallow area at the end of the cove, there is a restaurant. Its mooring buoys are also distributed to suitable locations in this area.
From here, a narrow road leads to Taşlıca Village, 9 kilometers away. Donkey tours are organized to the village. It is said that there are 41 cisterns in the village alongside historical sites. According to legend, 40 of these cisterns have been found, and the 41st, which is said to be full of gold, is still being searched for. When reaching the 2.5 kilometer section of this road, it is also possible to see Yeşilova Bay from the south. This road provides road connection in emergency situations.
Among the high cliffs surrounding the cove, dwarf oaks and wild olives can be seen, albeit rarely.
The shore extending from the northeast of the cove to the west continues with hills rising considerably after the head. Directly across from the cove entrance, there is a small indentation among the rocks with space for one boat. One must be very lucky to find a spot in this magnificently scenic location.
The deep cove first drops to 20 meters on the south side, then shallows connecting to a pebble beach. In this location, the vault chain belonging to the old restaurant lies parallel to the beach. It is advisable to be careful when anchoring, as it can snag.
Anchor at 5-8 meters on sandy bottom, and take a stern line from the southern shore. The underwater view here is very beautiful. The water is very clean but cold.
Although Serçe Harbor is generally sheltered from all winds, heavy squalls occasionally funneling down from the mountain slopes can be dangerous.
Serçe Harbor is a very beautiful cove that must be seen, experienced, and swum in.
