A world-famous holiday paradise located west of Keçi Island within Marmaris Harbor. On charts, its name appears as "Gölenya Harbor."
We see the beautiful blend of Mediterranean and Aegean botanical characteristics on the high mountains surrounding İçmeler. From the sea, from the mountain peaks, from the roadsides, wherever you look, you will see a flawless paradise.
Every type of tree, every variety of plant adorns İçmeler from the shore into the town, from there to the mountain peaks.
İçmeler is approached from the open sea through Küçük Boğaz, which extends in a northeasterly direction between Keçi Island Light (Fl R 2s 30m 5M) and Sarı Mehmet Point. The widest part of the passage is 465 meters, with an average depth of 38 meters. In the middle of the strait is the high Karga Island. Both sides of the island are deep. İçmeler is approached from the Marmaris side, south of Keçi Island.
A stream flows into the sea from the middle of the wide, excellent beach. Outside this location, the bay is deep up to the shore.
One can anchor and stay with a long line at any suitable location. On the north side of the bay, depths are around 10-14 meters.
On the south side, depth drops to 10 meters. The bottom is sand and seaweed. In windy weather, squalls descend from the hills.
On the south of the bay, there is a large pier operated by the municipality where 257 boats of various sizes can berth. At the quay of the facility under the control of Municipal Marina operations (Contact: 0.252.45536 96), Marmaris-İçmeler water taxis and daily excursion boats are moored stern-to. Other sections are reserved for yachtsmen. One can berth by anchoring or going alongside at the location indicated by the authorities. Electricity and water are available. The facility has showers and WC, as well as shopping stores, cafes and restaurants. There is sewage discharge.
Behind this area, there is a healing water fountain that gives İçmeler its name. This spring water is extremely rich in chloride and sulfate anions along with sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium cations. Since it contains more than 140 grams of dissolved matter per liter, it is difficult to drink. The water, which has been determined to be beneficial for internal diseases, shows an immediate laxative effect when two glasses are consumed.
The town's name "Gölenye" was changed to İçmeler in 1963.
All kinds of necessities are available in İçmeler. İçmeler, which has a health clinic, police station, laundromats, very large shopping centers, bank branches, bank ATMs, and a water sports center, is connected to Marmaris by a magnificent 7-kilometer coastal walking path through flowers and shaded areas. It is an excellent path where morning exercisers gather.
İçmeler offers endless options to its guests with its luxury hotels, guesthouses, cafes and bars.
The town also has a bus terminal where intercity bus agencies are located. Regular minibus services are available to Marmaris and Turunç. Taxis are available.
A road connects the town through the mountains to Hisarönü Bay and Datça.
A neighborhood market is set up in the town on Wednesdays.
