MANASTIR BAY

36°38'95"N - 28°51'00"E

It is a wide bay 1 mile southwest of Boz Point. The narrow coast to its west is where the Kapıdağ Peninsula connects to the mainland.

Among the high hills covered with pine and olive trees, there are beautiful and interesting anchorages, each one more attractive than the other.

It is one of the farthest locations from Göcek center. Especially in the evenings, it is a place for those who want to rest their minds and stay calm. The back receives refreshing breezes as it is close to the open seas. It is the coolest place in the region. For this reason, it is a location with heavy yacht traffic.

Two of the anchorage spots in this natural wonder, unique bay are:

HAMAM BAY

36°38'45"N - 28°51'42"E

At the head of the bay, there is a half-ruined bathhouse in the water. It is said that this bathhouse was built centuries ago by the king of the city on top of the hills.

The waters off the coast east of the bathhouse are very deep. Gulet vessels generally anchor stern-to in this section. They drop anchor at 20-30 meters and tie up.

The bay is particularly crowded during the day. Daily tour boats coming from Fethiye and Göcek make stops here. Thousands of passengers jump into the water and enter the bathhouse.

For this reason, if you want to anchor peacefully in the bay, you should choose a time slot outside of 10:30-16:30 hours. The bay is truly very beautiful, and the sea is clean. The most suitable place to anchor in the bay is the western shore. If you anchor stern-to here as well, you will have a more comfortable stay.

From the middle of the bay, a path through olive and pine trees leads to a hill after 200 meters. From here you can see the open seas and the magnificent Gökgemile Harbor beneath your feet. In the late afternoon, towards sunset, the view is indescribable and highly recommended.

KAPI (Castle) BAY

36°38'25"N - 28°51'19"E

When passing from Hamam Bay to Kapı Bay towards the northwest, there are beautiful anchorages, each one more attractive than the other. Behind the small islet formed by rocks, vessels anchor stern-to.

In the sheltered cove surrounded by pine trees, one can anchor on the south and west shores at 10-15 meters on weedy bottom and take a spring line ashore.

The cove receives wind from the south and west hills, creating squalls. However, these breezes also protect those staying in the cove from summer heat and provide cooling.

At the entrance to the cove on the starboard side, there is a restaurant. Vessels can berth alongside at this pier in front of a shallow area.

In ancient times, there used to be a city on the Kapıdağ Peninsula. A thick wall built to protect this city extends from inside the cove to the hills. From these hills, it is still possible to see the open seas.

Kapı Cove is a natural wonder with its safe anchorage, clean sea, comfortable climate, and lush green forests.
