Sarsala Bay

It is a large bay between Martin Cape in the north and Boz Cape in the south, indented to the west.

The end of the bay terminates with a wide beach section. The surrounding hills are covered with pine trees.

South of the beach, there is a pier extending into the sea. This pier is a small pier where commercial vessels make transfers. Water is available.

The sheltered location of Sarsala is the bay south of the beach. It is a location with deep water between slopes covered with trees.

Sarsala Bay is 16 kilometers from Dalaman by road. Taxis wait on the shore. It is a close point to the International Airport from Göcek. Many vessels transfer their guests from here.

The beach facilities are operated by Dalaman Municipality. The facility, which has a restaurant and café, is open during daytime hours.

The needs of the surrounding bays are met from Dalaman, which is connected to this pier. The beach, which also has sun loungers and a beach volleyball court, receives intense interest especially during summer months. This area becomes very crowded on weekends.

Sarsala used to be the pier of "Khedive Abbas Pasha Farm" which covered the Dalaman Plain. Marble bollards from that time can be found on the quay. Four kilometers after the road going to Dalaman, Kocagöl is reached. This road going over the hills is a beautiful walking route.

Khedive Abbas Pasha ordered a railway station building to be built in Alexandria city and a mansion construction in Dalaman from a French construction company. While materials for both constructions were coming by ship, a mix-up occurred and as a result, the material required for the station building reached Dalaman. Consequently, a station was built in Dalaman. The only building in the world with a station building but no railway is in Dalaman. This station building is currently being used as an administrative building within the state production farm.

On the middle of the southern shore of Sarsala Bay, there is a small charming, sheltered almost private cove. This place is called  "Küçük Sarsala Bay" (36°39'01"N - 28°51'82"E). At the end of this charming cove covered with pine trees, there is a pier where vessels can moor with a stern line. The pier belongs to the restaurant behind it. It has a different atmosphere.

The neighboring cove to the east of Küçük Sarsala Bay is "Bozkoy" right below Boz Burun. It is a calm place to stay away from everything. Generally, gulets bring their guests seeking tranquility here. It is open to the front. The depth in this area is varying and significant.

WARNING :

This cove is within the scope of anchoring prohibition enforcement, there are mooring buoys. Those wishing to use the bay can learn about accommodation and reservation conditions from the DERİA (deria.gov.tr) system.
