Çıplak Island

Çıplak Ada is a pristine anchorage located on the western side of Sarmısaklı Peninsula, renowned for its natural beauty and excellent shelter. The bay on the southern part of the island provides exceptional protection from northerly winds and is a highly popular spot for both day-tripper boats and private yachts. The anchorage is open to the south.

Exercise caution when entering the bay; depths vary irregularly as you approach the shore from south to north. Areas that appear shallow may have deeper sections immediately to the north, and this pattern repeats several times throughout the bay.

Boats can safely drop anchor in 2-5 meters over a sandy bottom with good holding. Upon arrival at Çıplak Ada, you'll be greeted by the continuous chorus of seagulls, whose cheerful calls continue throughout the day.

The island is completely unspoiled and maintains its pristine character. Apart from a single family living on the island and their modest dwelling with outbuildings, there are no structures. The island is home to numerous wild rabbits, which provide delightful wildlife observation opportunities.

At night, the lights of Midilli Island (Lesvos) and Dikili create a spectacular vista. The Ayvalık-Midilli ferries pass south of the island at scheduled intervals, offering an interesting maritime spectacle.
