ANCHORAGE LOCATION:
In the north of Çandarlı Gulf, east of Değirmen Island Point, with small Eşek Island at its entrance, on the east side of Çandarlı town, it is a harbor sheltered from all winds except east and south.
The harbor ends with a beach. The eastern corner of the harbor is more secure but it shoals as you approach the shore. In this location, anchoring is done at depths between 4-8 meters.
The bottom is mud, so it provides excellent holding. Strong northerly winds are generally prevalent in this location. Despite this wind, it is comfortable to stay due to the good holding of the bottom and the lack of sea swell.
On the west side of the harbor, there is a small quay of Çandarlı Town. In suitable weather, you can moor stern-to at this quay which is exposed to northerly winds. Local boat vaults are also present in this location.
In the industrial zone right behind the beach, engine and electrical technicians can be found.
In Çandarlı town, there are shopping centers, health clinics, security units, pharmacies, restaurants and tea gardens to meet every need.
There are also banks, sailing schools and diving centers in Çandarlı.
Çandarlı, where the wind blows constantly and humidity is low, is preferred especially in hot summer months for its cooling effect.
The sea water temperature is much lower compared to other places.
There are regular bus services to İzmir and Dikili by road connection. Similarly, there are intercity bus services to many cities in Turkey.
SHELTER:
West of Değirmen Island Point, on the side where the historic Çandarlı Castle is located, there is a fishing shelter
available.
The shelter is operated by the fisheries cooperative. There is a fish auction and cafe inside the shelter.
Due to its very shallow nature, different bottom types on approach, and inadequate quay facilities, it is difficult for yachts to moor here safely.
On Fridays, Çandarlı's local market is set up.
