The yacht races held under the name Winter Trophy on the Marmaris course reached their 7th and final leg, almost arriving at the summer months.

The briefing for the races to be held on May 30-31 took place on Friday evening, May 29, at the club facilities.

Chief Race Officer Can GİRAY announced that they planned to conduct a total of 2 races in the final leg.

When the fleet went out to the course on Saturday, May 30, the wind was blowing at 14 knots from 260 degrees. The race committee had set up the starting line off Yalancıboğaz, waiting for the fleet to arrive at the starting area.

The yachts racing in the bay today would first round the buoy off Mares, then the buoy off Marmaris Castle to starboard, complete the triangular course with a turn at the buoy off Yalancıboğaz, make 2 sausages between Yalancıboğaz and Mares, and finish off Mares.

There are 17 boats on the course and all classes will start together.

One characteristic of the Marmaris races is that everyone adheres to the announced start time. The race committee considers all possibilities, arrives at the course early, and respects the start time. And so does the fleet.

With the start given at 11:00, boats begin racing toward Mares point. The wind affects the course with the same strength. Tacks and buoy roundings. When the fleet leaders reach the Mares buoy, the wind first drops to 6, then to 3 knots. Calm roundings allow us to capture memorable photographs. When the fleet heads toward Marmaris Castle, the wind begins to blow from 200 degrees at 11-12 knots. Some areas of the course receive lighter winds while other areas get stronger winds. Boats approaching the finish find sufficient wind and approach comfortably. At the end of the day;

In IRC-1, MATRAK 2,

In IRC-2, PALMARINA SAILING-İZMİR YELKEN AKADEMİ,

In IRC-3, M2, and

In IRC-4, ERGO-BLUE BIRD 2 are the boats that leave their competitors behind.

On Saturday evening at the club facilities, the prize ceremony for the 6th Leg races takes place.

On Sunday morning, May 31st, everyone is at their posts, surprises can be expected from the wind at any moment. When viewed from the hills of Marmaris, the wind, which seemed to have forsaken the sails, couldn't resist and started to blow as the fleet headed out to the course. Poseidon also contributed to the final leg, the final race of the Trophy with 6 knots from 140 degrees.

The course is set, the route is clear. Starting in front of Marmaris Castle, vessels will head out to open sea. After leaving Kargataşı Island off Amos to port, they will return to the castle front. With the turning buoy, the boats heading towards the false strait will come to the finish line in front of the Castle after completing their turn.

With the start at 11 o'clock, the fleet begins to separate right from the beginning. Those who say " I know, the wind is over there " are heading to those positions on the route to fill their sails and get their boats moving. When entering the Strait, short, frequent tacks, approaches to the shore so close as to almost hit the rocks provide us with viewing opportunities as well. Içmeler and Turunç give way to the boats. Wind is at 10-14 knots.

On the returns from Kargataşı island, hands go to the spinnakers. Some silent, some dim, some as if about to burst. Each spinnaker handler has their own way of setting the spinnaker (like eating yogurt).

As they approach Marmaris, the wind strength varies according to positions. Those who fall into the burned areas get burned like MATRAK 2. MATRAK 2, leaving her competitors behind each time, escapes the windless area and finishes, but the waiting periods take away her advantage. At the end of the day;

In IRC-1 ORFOZ,

In IRC-2 PALMARINA SAILING-İZMİR YELKEN AKADEMİ,

In IRC-3 M2 andp>

In IRC-4, KANKA is becoming one of the boats leaving their competitors behind.

The boats racing in the Marmaris Course have formed truly cohesive and harmonious crews. If we were to name them all, believe us, it would be impossible; we can say all of them. Measured passion and sportsmanship grace the course. If only they had matching uniforms! Except for EXIT, there are practically none. In photos taken for newspapers, magazines, and websites, rolled-up sweaters, fallen tracksuits, and various different clothing styles enter the computer archives without making it to the pages.

In the evening, there's a trophy closing ceremony at the club facilities. Like a nest, like one big family. While trophies are being presented, everyone applauds their competitors sincerely and enthusiastically. The competition stays on the race course.

Overall results of the 7-leg ERGO-MIYC Winter Trophy

1- M2

2 - PALMARINA SAILING-İZMİR YELKEN AKADEMİ

3 - HAYTA 2

Marmaris's famous RECEP USTASI adds flavor to the closing ceremony with his döner. Everyone is happy, no one wants the trophy night to end, but time stubbornly refuses to stop. We say "see you next year," for a trophy that will be raced throughout winter and conclude at the end of the season...
