Turkish Sailing Community Showcases Unity and Compassion in Orhaniye Marina

During the busiest days of the hot summer months, 54 sea cruisers living on 21 boats, united under the group name "Denizlerdeyiz" (We're at Sea), gathered at Orhaniye Martı Marina for a wonderful event.

54 crew members with 21 boats participated in the event that took place on August 6-7.

All boats were hosted by Martı Marina on the morning of August 6 and moored at their designated pontoon.

At 2:00 PM, the participants gathered at the Martı Marina Yacht Club.

The event organizer, Zafer Türkmen, stated that they aim to expand this activity, the first of which took place in the Istanbul Region, across all our coasts. He also mentioned that they aim to spread the maritime chat meetings, sponsored by İstanbul Eye Hospital for a long time, to our coasts for this reason.

Starting his speech by welcoming the participants, Martı Marina General Manager Moris Eskinazi stated that as Martı Group, they continue their maritime activities that they have been conducting for many years and the Marina's doors are always open to such maritime organizations and they will support them.

The meeting started with an interesting and colorful presentation by Alim Sür, who has been sailing the world's seas with his meeting partner Hattaya, about his world voyage and highlighting the catamaran advantage during these voyages.

In this visually supported presentation, participants had the opportunity to hear about the performance of Catamarans in all conditions from an experienced sailor.

In the second part of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Gürcan Polat presented information about the Ancient City of Antandros. He explained the Mediterranean Route taken by Aeneas, one of the Trojan heroes, with 20 vessels he equipped.

After the meetings, the participants who started preparing for the evening event encountered images of a new water activity near their boats.

"We Are at Sea" - sailors who came together under this name and communicated through WhatsApp groups had their dinner in the evening at Martı Marina Fanari restaurant accompanied by music and had the opportunity to get to know each other more closely.

On Sunday, August 7th morning, starting from 11:00 AM, they began forming the Circle of Love ritual in the area next to the Marina. Meanwhile, Dolphins were also welcoming them to Orhaniye Bay by clearing the way.

Adnan Biricik(S/Y Biricik), Ahmet Solmaz(S/Y Şans), Arif Uzer(S/Y Vector 1), Atik Kaytaz(S/Y Kaytaz), Atilla Merih Aytaç(S/Y Esperanza), Aziz Önderol(S/Y Rakish), Azmi Özer(S/Y Turquoise), Baransel Atçı(S/Y Zefır), Bülent Ergez(S/Y Sunflower), Ferdi Atabek(S/Y Freedolphin), Hakan Gönüllü(S/Y Sante), Hakkı Algın(S/Y Nerissa), İnan Şahin(S/Y Cheesecake), Levend Dağaşan(S/Y Fortuna), Mehmet Cömert(S/Y Seafari), Osman Mısırlı(S/Y Leyla), Sali(S/Y Ohre), Yuce Uyanık(S/Y Gurur Deniz), Zafer Türkmen(S/Y Petunia) - 19 vessels joined and while in this formation, they joyfully enjoyed the sea together.

The sailors who experienced 2 full days together were heading to different coves of Hisarönü Paradise as they weighed anchor, while the chief architect of the organization, Zafer Türkmen, had already begun making announcements for the next event.

The goal: to make more use of the sea, to spend more time at sea, to expand sea-loving fleets.
