Final Horn Sounds for 2016 Sailing Season in Bodrum

Milta Bodrum Marina in cooperation with Bodrum Offshore Sailing Club organized the 2016 BAYK Autumn Trophy

The 4th Leg took place on December 17-18 in Bodrum.

At the same time, all yacht races throughout Turkey have been concluded for the year 2016.

The trophy was completed with the 4th and final leg in which 22 boats raced in 3 classes.

On the Bodrum course where the wind was suitable for racing and the air temperature was literally freezing, all races planned for 2 days were completed.

In the final leg of the autumn trophy consisting of 4 legs, the increase in the number of boats before the 2017 winter trophy was notable compared to previous legs.

The boats that can be considered major contenders for the classic BAYK Winter Trophy have completed all their preparations with the autumn trophy.p>

It was truly very cold, and the boats competed fiercely over 2 days.

Since Optimist races were also being held on the same days on the Bodrum course, the routes were set off Bodrum and to the west to avoid creating interference.

All races for the trophy were completed as planned.

The overall results were determined with 1 discard.

On the challenging Bodrum course, it was notable that the race committee under the chairmanship of Chief Race Officer Ayberk OLCAY completed the trophy without causing any disputes.

The races, which were held in all directions on both buoy and geographical routes, made the competitors happy on the Bodrum course.

While the 4th Leg was being sailed, a crew member from the yacht ARES fell overboard south of Çelebi Island.

The experienced Bodrum Sea Rescue Teams rapidly intervened in the incident, rescued the racer, and brought them ashore.
