Turkish Yachting Industry Pioneer and Gino Group Founder Dies at 84

The doyen of the yachting industry, founder and chairman of the board of Gino Group, Gino Matteo Pardo, who provided great contributions to Turkish tourism, passed away at the age of 84.

Gino was born on August 20, 1936, as the son of a lavender family from Izmir.

He was engaged in carpet trade for many years.

In the 1980s, he entered the yachting industry by establishing a Yacht Maintenance and Repair company across from Kuşadası Marina.

Later, while Netsel Marina was being constructed, he leased the building that is currently their headquarters as Gino Group.

With this initiative, he became one of the first to establish yacht maintenance and repair services on a corporate basis in Turkey.

In the following years, Gino Group also became the Turkish representative of many important yacht companies.

Gino Group, founded by Gino Matteo Pardo, became one of the largest companies in our country in yacht sales and maintenance and repair services.

As a yacht agency, it is known as a reputable and institutionalized company worldwide.

The company, which has been operating for over 40 years and has long been a member of TURSAB, ASTA and UFTAA, has its headquarters in

Marmaris Netsel Marina, the heart of yacht tourism, branches in Istanbul, Kuşadası, Bodrum, Göcek, Marmaris-Yalancıboğaz, and a representative office in Antalya.

Many people have been trained in Gino companies over the years, both in technical and sales areas, and have become sought-after professionals in the industry.

Gino is known not only for opening a company in the maritime industry but also for opening a school that trains qualified personnel.

His funeral will be held on July 2, 2020, at 13:00 at the Şişli Italian Jewish Cemetery.
