Yacht Stolen from Dalyanköy Marina
Security Breach at Turkish Marina Highlights Growing Concerns for Boat Owners

The S/Y TRİLYE named vessel, CYCLADES 43.3 type, 2006 model, was stolen yesterday at 12:50 from İzmir Dalyankoy Marina.

The boat owner Ümit Kemal Coşkun, who lives in Istanbul, had put his boat up for sale some time ago.

On Sunday, 17.01.2021, a person who introduced himself to Ümit Kemal Coşkun as Murat Aksu expressed interest in the boat and said he was serious about it.
The boat owner Ümit Kemal Coşkun, who came from Istanbul to İzmir on Monday, 18.01.2021, met with the person claiming to be a buyer at his boat at İzmir Dalyankoy Marina.

DETAILED, LENGTHY INSPECTION LIKE A REAL BUYER
After lengthy inspections on the boat, tough negotiations took place.
Finally, a verbal agreement was reached between the parties that the boat would be sold for 1,200,000 TL, slightly below the price stated in the advertisement.
The sales procedures would be completed on 25.01.2021 in Istanbul.
The seller wanted to confirm this verbal agreement with a deposit.
COULDN'T BUY WITHOUT SHOWING IT TO HIS WIFE
The person claiming to be the buyer said he would show the boat to his wife from the outside the next day and send the deposit after getting her approval.
Then the seller locked his boat and returned to Istanbul by evening flight.
A day later, on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, he waits until the afternoon and checks his accounts.
But there is no deposit amount transferred to the account yet.
NO DEPOSIT IN THE ACCOUNT, BUYER'S PHONE IS ALSO OFF
The buyer's phone is no longer answering either.
Upon this, he calls Dalyanköy Marina and asks whether the people who came to view his boat a day earlier are there.
"THE BOAT IS NOT IN ITS PLACE, SIR"
After this request from their customer, the marina officials go to check the boat, but the boat is not in its place.
The rumors are different.
While some say that this individual came to the boat at 09:30, did something, and left the marina with the boat at 12:50, some witnesses say at the Dalyanköy
exit there were 3 people on the boat.

DISAPPEARS IN ROUGH WEATHER
The boat, too dirty to run the engine, sets out into Ildır Bay being pounded by rough waves and is never heard from again.
Searches begin with the boat owner's official application to SG Çeşme Koluluk Support Team Command.
SEARCHES CONTINUE BY SEA, LAND AND AIR
No positive news has been received from the intensive searches continuing until now, but searches and investigations are ongoing.
Security units are also continuing their searches from the air with a helicopter.
It would be beneficial for those who see the boat whose photograph we have published in the news to inform the Security Units.
Wishing you to be reunited with your boat as soon as possible, get well soon Captain Ümit Kemal Coşkun.
