RACING AT SEA, FESTIVAL EXCITEMENT ON LAND

Marmaris will host one of the significant gatherings of the international sailing world between October 24-30. At the 37th Marmaris International Race Week, where the participation of over 100 boats and more than 1,000 sailors is expected, the competition in the gulf will be accompanied by events organized in the city center.

Marmaris is preparing to host the international sailing community once again in the last week of October. The 37th Marmaris International Race Week, organized by Marmaris International Yacht Sport Club (MIYC), will bring together racing teams from different countries between October 24-30, 2026.
The organization, where the participation of over 100 boats and more than 1,000 sailors is expected, will not be limited only to the sporting competition at sea. With races, live broadcasts, award ceremonies and social events, it will bring Marmaris's life intertwined with the sea to the city center as well.

AN INTERNATIONAL GATHERING SINCE 1989
First organized in 1989, Marmaris International Race Week maintains its place among Turkey's established international yacht racing organizations as it reaches its 37th year (there were ones that did not take place during the pandemic period).
The event, which has brought together professional and amateur sailors from different countries on the same course over the years, enables not only sporting competition but also the sharing of international friendships and maritime culture.
The natural structure of Marmaris Gulf, variable wind conditions and race courses with different characteristics are among the factors that determine the sporting character of the organization. Reading the wind correctly, making tactical decisions on time, and maintaining team harmony will be decisive for the racing teams throughout the week.

FIVE DAYS OF FIERCE COMPETITION IN MARMARIS GULF
Starting on Monday, October 26races, teams will compete for five days on coastal and offshore courses in Marmaris Bay and its surroundings.
In the organization, which will feature racing boats with different performance characteristics and charter yachts, teams' boat mastery, tactical preferences and coordination will come to the forefront.
In addition to the competition at sea, social gatherings and award ceremonies to be organized during race week will also constitute important parts of the organization. Thus, sailors from different countries will have the opportunity to share their experiences and establish new friendships alongside their sporting competition.

EXCITEMENT MOVES TO MARMARIS CENTER WITH RACE VILLAGE
One of the prominent features of Marmaris International Race Week in the last two years has been the organization's greater integration with city life.
The Race Village, established in the Marmaris breakwater area, stands out as a social meeting place where athletes, city residents and visitors come together. With the events and award ceremonies to be held during race week, this area is aimed to be the onshore center of the excitement at sea.
The live broadcasting of races on social media channels and their availability to be watched on giant screens in the city center will also enable the organization to reach wider audiences. Thus, not only those interested in sailing sport, but also residents of Marmaris and tourists visiting the city will be able to follow the race atmosphere closely.
The activity created around the Race Village is expected to strengthen visitors' connection with the city center and contribute to local businesses. This approach transforms Marmaris International Race Week from being merely a sporting event attended by racing teams into an organization felt throughout the city.

EVERY YEAR, RACE WEEK ADDS A NEW MOMENTUM TO THE END OF THE TOURISM SEASON r
Marmaris Uluslararası Race Week holds importance not only for its sporting value but also for the region's tourism and maritime economy.
With the participation of sailors, technical teams, organizing staff and visitors, economic activity is generated in accommodation, dining, marina services and other maritime activities.
The race week, organized in the late period of the tourism season, contributes to Marmaris standing out as a destination that can attract visitors not only during the summer months but also through international sports organizations.
The location of the Race Village in the city center and the opening of events to a wider audience also extends the impact of the organization beyond the teams directly participating in the races.

THE GOAL IS TO STRENGTHEN MARMARIS' UNDISPUTED POSITION IN THE SAILING WORLD
Marmaris International Yacht Sports Club aims to increase the international visibility of the well-established race week and to bring together racing teams from more countries in Marmaris.
The national and international races organized by the club throughout the year, along with training activities for young athletes, also contribute to the development of sailing culture in the region.
The integrated structure of Marmaris International Race Week with the city is an important part of the effort to bring sailing sport together with wider audiences and to strengthen Marmaris' position in the international maritime calendar.
