It is a wide bay with its mouth opening to the south, located immediately northeast of Ortaca Burnu. The bay is sheltered from north and west winds, but is exposed to south winds.
A headland extends southward from the middle of the bay. There are ruins along the extension of this headland.
The headland divides the bay in two. The sheltered part is on the east side. Here, one can anchor at 10-15 meters depth and remain at anchor, or take a line ashore from the coast.
In Ayaca Bay, like other bays along this coast, there is no settlement; it is pristine. There are occasional scrublands and livestock sheltering areas.
There is much more thyme than in other bays.
